Camping Equipment Packing List - The Essentials

Camping allows you to get in touch with nature, spend the night outside and explore the outdoors. And all from the comfort of a cozy camp and with lots of fun and functional gear to keep you warm, protected and having a blast.

For some camping can be overwhelming, especially if you’re new to it or aren’t sure what you need to take. So, to help you out, I’ve come up with a simple list of must have camp items to take for your next weekend camping trip, so you stay safe, comfortable and have such a great time that you’re ready to go again.

And don’t worry if you don’t own some of the essentials like a tent or sleeping bag. At TNX we rent complete camping set ups or go a la carte and grab what you need for camping adventure.

Sleeping – Equipment to keep you protected from weather and critters, and to keep you warm and comfortable sleeping at night.

Tent

Tent footprint (most tents will come with this) or a tarp

Sleeping pad – self inflating are easiest and take up less space in your car

Sleeping bag  

Pillow

Camp Kitchen – Kitchen equipment you’ll want, so you can make your own delicious meals around camp.

Stove and fuel

Matches and lighter

Frying pan and pot

Cooking utensils

Eating utensils

Plates and bowls

Mugs and cups

Sharp knife and cutting board

Dish wash bins, soap, sponge and towels

Cooler

Water bottle

Water filter

First aid and toiletries – To keep you safe, clean and healthy while you’re camping.

Complete First aid kit, or at least some bandages, gauze, adhesive tape, antiseptic wipes and hand sanitizer

Bug spray

Sunscreen

Pain and fever reducer medication

Things to keep you clean and fresh like toothbrush and paste, deodorant, soap

Toilet Paper

Feminine Products, just in case ladies

Around camp – To keep you entertained and relaxed at camp.

Firewood, kindling & matches

Hatchet or Ax

Camp chair

Hammock

Flashlight, headlamp & lantern

Cards and games

A good book

This is a simple and basic list of equipment you’ll need and of course you can go bigger and bring other items depending on weather, where you’re going, length, etc. But this list will help you get started so you can get outside and spend the night under the stars.
